cervical cancer

When abnormal cells on the surface of the cervix spread deeper into the cervix, or to other tissues or organs, the disease is then called cervical cancer, or invasive cervical cancer.


Symptoms may include:

·         irregular menstrual periods
·         bleeding after menopause
·         increased vaginal discharge


Causes may include:

·         infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV)
·         infecion with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)


Treatment may include:

·         surgery
·         hysterectomy
·         radiation therapy
·         chemotherapy
·         LEEP or conization
