RWJ Hamilton Chosen to Lead 75th Anniversary of March for Babies
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton (RWJ Hamilton) and its president, Anthony ‘Skip’ Cimino, will lead the 2013 March for Babies, the largest annual fundraising event of the March of Dimes Foundation.
The hospital and Mr. Cimino will play an integral role in raising awareness and funds for the March of Dimes, which will celebrate its 75th anniversary this year.
“This is a cause RWJ Hamilton can easily rally behind simply because of its important mission to improve the health of babies,” says Cimino. “The hospital has shown our support in various ways for many years, but we are now being asked to set the pace for Mercer County; a challenge we are proud to accept.”
The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. With chapters nationwide, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
More than 4 million babies are born in the United States each year and the March of Dimes has helped each and every one of them through research, education, vaccines and breakthroughs.
“I can’t think of a more important cause than healthy babies, and I am excited to join our maternal child health department in this important work; they have done a fantastic job spearheading fundraising for RWJ Hamilton.”
Mercer County residents can sign up today at www.marchforbabies.org and start a team with co-workers, family and friends. Last year, more than 2000 people attended the event -- which will be held this year on April 21, 2013 at Mercer County Park in West Windsor, NJ.
“I couldn’t be happier having Skip and RWJ Hamilton lead March for Babies during our 75th anniversary,” said Addy Bonet, State Director of the New Jersey March of Dimes Chapter. “I am sure that the hospital will bring the same drive, dedication and passion that made it a well-respected organization in the community to its efforts on behalf of March for Babies.”
