Six-Year-Old Patient Reunited With Stuffed Animal
The parents of six-year-old Heiner know that feeling of panic when a child loses a favorite toy. Heiner brought his giraffe “Babau” when he had foot surgery at RWJ Hamilton. When Babau went missing, his nurse Janice Kingle feared it was lost for good and wheeled Heiner to the gift shop to pick out a new toy. However, the search continued. Anthony Hardwick, environmental services supervisor, called Unitex, the hospital’s linen provider, to report the missing giraffe. Unitex’s plant sorts 150,000 pounds of soiled linen from RWJ Hamilton daily and all the linens had been washed when Anthony called – along with Heiner’s giraffe! A very excited Heiner was reunited with a very clean, sanitized Babau. Thank you to Janice, Anthony and Unitex for helping to return Babau.
