Endoscopy services are also used for people experiencing change in bowel habits, preventive screening for polyps and follow up after colon cancer.

Diagnosis & Treatment

• EGD (Esophagoduodenoscopy)
• Biopsy check for damage due to recurrent heartburn with reflux.
• Malignancy screening with biopsy for surveillance for Barretts Esophagus, tumors or ulcers/ H. Pylori
• Banding esophageal varices (variceal banding); dilation of esophagus for difficult swallowing
• Insertion of stomach tube to supplement nutrition.
• Removal of foreign bodies.
• Colonoscopy and/or Flexible Sigmoidoscopy
• Preventative screening for polyps with Polypectomy
• Sclerotherapy for rectal bleeding
• Laser therapy for anemia disorders or lower GI bleed
• Biopsy check for diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease
• Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography (ERCP) 
• Removal of biliary obstruction (removal of stones) from common bile duct

Endoscopy is also used for a variety of diagnostic and post-surgical follow-up procedures, including: 

• Diagnosis of tumor, strictures, manometric evaluation of common bile duct
• Measurement of strength and coordination of muscular activity of esophagus and sphincters
• Evaluation of non-cardiac chest pain
• Evaluation of Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
• Follow-up evaluation for ulcer healing
• Pre-operative evaluation prior to laparoscopic surgery
• 24-hour PH monitiring
• Esophageal manometry
