Accreditation
The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations is the leading
accrediting body in the world, evaluating more than 17,000 health care organizations in the United
States. The Joint Commission is an independent, not for profit organization, and the nation's oldest
and largest standards setting and healthcare accrediting organization.
In its most recent survey, in September 2005, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton
again achieved outstanding results and full accreditation. Both the hospital and the
laboratory are accredited programs. The laboratory is accredited by the
College of American Pathologists.
This three-year accreditation ensures that Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital
Hamilton is in compliance with the standards that focus on the quality of patient care.
These standards require healthcare facilities to not only ensure high quality care, but to
constantly improve their processes related to patient care as well as organizational performance.
