Joan Barcari, RN, MSN

Vice President, Quality

 

Joan Bercari, MSN, RN, joined RWJ Hamilton in 1985 and was named Vice President of Quality in 2017. Ms. Bercari’s focus is on process improvement and patient safety. She oversees quality outcomes and patient safety; patient management; informatics; infection prevention and control; security; pharmacy; laboratory; disease management; and patient relations.  

During her more than 30 years at RWJ Hamilton, Ms. Bercari filled roles at every level of nursing before transitioning from patient care services to quality and clinical informatics in 2002.

In her most recent role as assistant vice president of quality outcomes, she led successful hospital and disease-specific Joint Commission surveys, coordinated and managed the medical shared savings program, implemented an electronic process for professional practice evaluation and improved quality metrics in heart failure, pneumonia, VTE and sepsis.

Ms. Bercari is a graduate of the Helene Fuld School of Nursing in Trenton. She earned her master’s degree in nursing from Walden University.
