The Diabetes Screening and Support Program for Children and Teenagers in Mercer County

What are the symptoms of diabetes?

Some children and teens who develop type 2 diabetes have few symptoms, which is why recognizing risk factors is very important. The following symptoms may occur in children and teens with diabetes:

  • Increased thirst
  • Frequent urination
  • Nighttime urination or bedwetting in a previously toilet-trained child
  • Increased hunger
  • Blurry vision
  • Fatigue
  • Weight loss
  • Nausea/vomiting

If your child has any of the above symptoms, notify your pediatrician immediately.
