Holistic Health Fair Offers Practices that Soothe the Mind and Body, and Help Businesses Work Smarter and Healthier
Fair at RWJ Hamilton Center for Health & Wellness Features Something for Everyone on April 28

4/17/2007
HAMILTON, NEW JERSEY – You've probably heard that integrative therapies like yoga and massage therapy can help you relax and stay healthy, but biorhythms for business? Polarity therapy for productivity?

Whether you come for business or pleasure, get ready to enjoy sampling a variety of integrative techniques at the Holistic Health Fair at the RWJ Hamilton Center for Health and Wellness on Saturday, April 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about how various therapies can make you look and feel more relaxed, and help keep you healthy in mind, body and spirit.

"Integrative, or complementary, therapies have worked for thousands of years to defend against disease and advance healing from within," says Shirley Roberts of RWJ Hamilton's Community Education department. "By integrating holistic practices into traditional medicine, people can achieve better health and well-being. Businesses are also learning that healthier, happier employees mean fewer sick days and lower healthcare and insurance costs. It's a win-win situation for everyone."

From Acupuncture to Yoga; Massage to Music
The Holistic Health Fair will offer an opportunity to sample and learn about more than 20 different techniques, from acupuncture to yoga. Free chair massages and Reiki sessions (healing touch) will be available throughout the day. Complementing the experience will be light refreshments and nutritious food samples from Black Forest Acres health food store and music by Edie Elkan and members of her Bedside Harp therapy program.

Ruben T. Ong, MD, surgeon on staff at RWJ Hamilton and proponent of preventive medicine and holistic health, will present an informative talk on "Toxins in the Environment."

Many of the holistic therapies presented at the fair are also offered to local businesses by RWJ Hamilton's Community Education department through the Business Retreat program at The Conference Center at the Center for Health & Wellness. Business Retreat clients can extend the effectiveness of traditional meetings by learning to work smarter and healthier. Business Retreat attendees may enjoy state-of-the-art meeting space alongside opportunities to swim in the center's three pools, use fitness equipment, and be pampered in a day spa. Programs featuring experts on health care, nutrition, fitness, wellness and integrative medicine can also be integrated into their meeting agenda.

"Everyone of every age and occupation can benefit from these kinds of therapies," says Roberts. "Whether you're in business or are just interested in learning about complementary medicine, the health fair offers a chance to see first-hand how these techniques might help you."
