Blood, Tissue & Organ Donation

Blood Donation

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton is proud to be a designated site for blood donation. Throughout the year we invite the community to participate in saving lives by donating blood at our blood drives, coordinated by the American Red Cross.

In addition, Robert Wood Johnson Hamilton offers weekly access to an on-site mobile unit for blood donation through the efforts of the Community Blood Council (CBC) of New Jersey. The mobile unit is stationed in the front parking lot of the campus (next to Whitehorse-Hamilton Square Rd) and is coordinated through the CBC.

Organ & Tissue Donation

At a critical time in a family's life, decisions must be made. The loss of one's life could mean a second chance for someone else. As a requirement of the State of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton presents the option of organ donation to its patient's families. If the option is considered and questions or concerns arise, The Sharing Network is contacted. The Sharing Network is an organ procurement organization responsible for recovering organs and tissue for New Jersey residents currently awaiting transplants. It counsels families on the facts of organ and tissue donation, and coordinates the process. Families who understand the impact their decision has made, can heal from the knowledge that their loved one has saved the life of another.
